Homeless Housing and Resources


SHRA provides funding and staff resources for the administration of a variety of homeless services. To access these services, interested individuals should utilize one of the methods below to obtain emergency housing and other homeless assistance in Sacramento.


Sacramento Homelessness Progress Report

The City of Sacramento, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, Sacramento Steps Forward, and the County of Sacramento are publishing a monthly Sacramento Area Homelessness Progress Report to keep the community informed about our collaborative work to address homelessness in Sacramento.

2-1-1 Sacramento

211 Sacramento is the area’s primary information and referral source for all types of services. 211 provides free, confidential information and referral services 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Referrals can be made to more than 1,600 community services in the Sacramento area. If you need assistance with emergency housing, food services, counseling, employment, or other services please contact 211 using one of the options listed below:

Family Emergency Shelters

Families experiencing homelessness can call 2-1-1 or dial 916-498-1000 to be assessed for shelter options plus get connected to homeless services. All other family resources such as CalWORKS, CalFresh, and Medi-Cal can be accessed by calling 916-874-3100.
