The Housing Authority provides opportunities for program participants to decrease or eliminate the need for housing assistance. The Resident Training Program is available for residents in the Public Housing Program.
Resident Training Program
The Resident Training Program is designed as one resource for Housing Authority residents to move towards self-sufficiency. This is accomplished through on-the-job training in the clerical, custodial and painting disciplines. The program emphasizes not only office skills and proper ways to clean and paint, but how to become a reliable, productive employee that has a positive work ethic and is socially well adjusted in a professional work environment.
During the two-year program, trainees work in Agency offices, paint and clean vacant public housing units and common areas in our complexes. To qualify for the program, Housing Authority residents must have a valid California driver’s license and be able to pass a DMV and criminal background check.
Applications are accepted continuously and positions are filled as trainees graduate or otherwise leave the program.
