Emergency Repair Program

Effective February 1, 2012, acceptance of applications under the Emergency Repair Program (ERP) is suspended.  New applications will not be accepted until further notice.

The ERP-A is a program designed to provide grants for emergency/health and safety repairs to owners of single family homes or mobile homes in the City and County of Sacramento.

Program Features

  • a grant which does not require repayment
  • $5,000 maximum assistance
  • funds may only be used to finance repairs such as unsafe electrical systems; broken windows, doors, or locks; water heaters; leaking roofs; non-working heating systems, etc.

Eligible Applicants

Owner occupants of single family homes or mobile homes in the City and County of Sacramento who:

  • have not received more than $5,000 of previous ERP assistance (there is a lifetime limit of $5,000 per grantee)
  • are defined as very low-income – households with income less than or equal to fifty percent (50%) of the area median income adjusted for household size. Current income limits are:

    1-person $26,300
    2-person $30,050
    3-person $33,800
    4-person $37,550
    5-person $40,600
    6-person $43,600

Eligible Properties

Single family homes and mobile homes in the City and County of Sacramento. This program is not available in Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, or Rancho Cordova.

Application Procedure

Call SHRA at (916) 440-1393. After determining qualifications for the program, a construction technician will call you to schedule an appointment to inspect the property and schedule the work.

Accessibility Modifications

Effective February 1, 2012, acceptance of applications under the Emergency Repair Program - Accessibility (ERP-A) is suspended.  New applications will not be accepted until further notice.

The Emergency Repair Program –Accessibility (ERP-A) is designed to offer home accessibility improvements to handicapped or disabled homeowners or renters in the City and County of Sacramento.  This program is not available in Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, and Rancho Cordova.

  Program Features

  • a grant which does not require repayment
  • $5,000 maximum assistance
  • funds may only be used to finance accessibility improvements such as wheelchair ramps, bathroom and kitchen modifications, grab bars, mechanical lifts, high-rise toilets, etc.
  • assistance is available for dwelling units such as homes, mobile homes, or apartment units

  Eligible Applicants

 Homeowners or renters in the City and County of Sacramento who:
  • have a verifiable disability
  • occupy the dwelling unit
  • are defined as low-income – households with income less than or equal to eighty percent (80%) of the area median income adjusted for household size. Current income limits are:

    1-person $42,100
    2-person $48,100
    3-person $54,100
    4-person $60,100
    5-person $64,950
    6-person $69,750
