Home Assistance and Repair Program for Seniors (HARPS)

Program Description:

HARPS is a public, nonprofit organization designed to assist senior homeowners residing in the City and County of Sacramento in making their homes safe and comfortable.  This program is not available in Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, and Folsom.

Program Features:

  • a service provided free of charge

  • skilled volunteers perform minor home repairs such as fixing leaking faucets, installing grab bars, handrails and telephone jacks, caulking, etc.

  • assisted repair cannot exceed $499

  • assisted homeowners are required to provide the necessary parts or materials needed by the volunteer

Eligible Applicants:

Homeowners in the City and County of Sacramento who:

  • own and occupy the dwelling unit
  • are seniors age 62 or older
  • are defined as very low-income – households with income less than or equal to fifty percent (50%) of the area median income adjusted for household size.  Current income limits are:
1-person                     $24,850
2-person                     $28,400
3-person                     $31,950
4-person                     $35,500
5-person                     $38,350
6-person                     $41,200

Call (916) 264-1515.  HARPS staff will promptly arrange for a skilled volunteer to perform minor home repairs.
