Announcing SHRARENT (PDF format)
Introducing the online HCV Rental Listings program provided by SHRA

General information about the Housing Choice Voucher (formerly Section 8) program is available on our Housing Choice Voucher page

As a participating HCV landlord, you can register online to create an account with SHRA.  After you select your User ID and Password, you will use it to log in to the rental site and list your rental properties. You can add a rental unit by answering a set of questions. The unit will be immediately viewable by anyone using this website and will stay there for 2 weeks after the available date. If you need them listed for a longer period, log in to your account and update the Available Date.

Please note that any rent amounts listed are ONLY REQUESTED RENTS AND NOT APPROVED RENTS.  An approvable rent is based on the tenant’s income, payment standard for the bedroom size they qualify for and the comparables in the area.  For example-- a 3bd in our area may be approved between $900-$1300 depending on this information.

YOU CHOOSE THE TENANT and CHECK THEM OUT.  You should ask to see their authorization to search and their voucher. The authorization to search will tell you what bedroom size they will qualify for and an estimated maximum rent amount.  The voucher will tell you the bedroom size finally approved and the soonest we can start a contract for them (listed as effective or start date of the voucher).

If the person you choose to be your tenant is on our program they will have a request for Tenancy Approval (RFTA) which you will fill out and turn into HCV (formerly called Section 8) along with a grant deed, W9, and a management agreement if you have an agent.) Do not leave anything blank on the RFTA (exception would be the agent area if you have no agent).  Once all documents are approved and verified an inspection will be scheduled. It is important that you list a phone number on the RFTA where you can be reached during the day, so the inspection can be scheduled.

Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency is not responsible for typographical errors, or the accuracy of information provided by this listing.
