Payment Standards

The Payment Standard does not determine the rent to owner.

The rent to owner is determined by the bedroom size, amenities, and comparable rents on similar rental units near the location of the unit selected.

A Payment Standard is the maximum monthly assistance payment for a family assisted in the voucher program.

The amount of subsidy is determined by the family’s income and household composition.

Payment Standards are updated periodically. The payment standard shown in this handbook is subject to change, and is shown for instructional purposes only.
