The
Broadway/Stockton Master Plan is the next step
towards implementing the streetscape improvements identified in the award
winning Broadway/Stockton
Urban Design Plan. The Master Plan is a streetscape
beautification plan that addresses in more detail the concepts developed
in the Urban Design Plan, and identifies improvements for Broadway and
Stockton Boulevard. The Master Plan process included three community
workshops and was completed in the fall of 2001.

Master Plan

The first phase of improvements, located on Stockton
Boulevard between Fruitridge Road and El Paraiso Avenue, began
construction in May 2002. Improvements will include landscaped medians,
street lighting, sidewalk, curb, and gutter, and street side landscaping.
Design for the second phase of improvements, located on Stockton Boulevard
between Broadway and Fruitridge Road will begin in the summer of 2002.

Stockton Boulevard Street Lighting
|
|
Community Development Block Grants funds are being used
to install new streetlights and upgrade the existing lighting conditions
along Stockton Boulevard from X Street to Riza Avenue. Construction began
May 2002.

Broadway/Stockton Special Planning District (SPD)
|
|
In August of 2001, the City of Sacramento adopted an
ordinance (Chapter 17.94 of the Zoning Code) establishing a Special
Planning District
(SPD) for Broadway and Stockton Boulevard. This
District establishes customized planning requirements in the area to help
guide future developments, facilitate infill development, and discourage
undesirable uses. The County Planning Department is currently working to
implement a similar district for the County portions of Stockton Boulevard
|
Stockton Boulevard Property and Business Improvement District (PBID)
|
|
The Stockton Boulevard Property and Business
Improvement District (PBID) was successfully formed in August 2001. With
the formation of the District, additional funds will be raised for
services and programs identified by stakeholders to enhance Stockton
Boulevard. The Management District Plan is a comprehensive document which
describes the PBID formation process and outlines services to be provided.

Lemon Hill Boys and Girls Club
|
|
This new facility, to be operated by the
Boys
and Girls Clubs of Greater Sacramento, will
serve area children by providing a variety of learning activities as well
as fun. The Club will be located on Lemon Hill Avenue, west of Stockton
Boulevard. Construction is anticipated to commence in late 2002.

Charles A. Jones Skills and Business Education Center
|
|
Located at 5451 Lemon Hill Avenue, the
Sacramento
City Unified School District Charles A. Jones Skills and Business
Education Center
transformed a parcel with several blighted structures into an invaluable
resource to the Stockton Boulevard Redevelopment area and the surrounding
community. Completed in 1999, a variety of vocational programs are offered
at the Center to teach job skills to students 18 years of age or older.
