Consent Calendar - there were no items on the consent calendar

Redevelopment Items – Tricia Powers

RAC Recruitment – recruitment ended on 6/27. Between first and second recruitment 15 applications were received, but there are still two categories that need representation – will recruit again. Interviews to take place at the end of July for 10 positions.

County Streetscape – Community meeting to be held on September 4, 2003, location to be determined. The County and Carter & Burgess are moving along quickly – they have provided all necessary survey information for the community to take place.

Deeble Street – a community meeting took place on June 23, 2003. The meeting was well attended. The community voiced that they wanted a masonry wall. Since there is not enough funding available to proceed with the wall, Councilmember Hammond will write a letter to the RT board and the people who signed up at the community meeting to be on a sub-committee will take the letter forward to the board. In the meantime, Darrin has been identifying donations for the project to possibly reduce the cost of the wall. Current budget $115,000.

East side of North City Farms Streetlighting project – no update.

I. Franklin Blvd. Business Association Quarterly Report (April – July), Marlene DeAngelo

· 4th Annual festival was someone disappointing – no participation from Campbell’s and there were not many participants. Planning committee does not feel it really benefited the businesses. The event may happen again in the future, but may not be business based.

· The grand opening for La Plaza was a great event. Awards/certificates were given to the business and property owners. All 13 business owners attended. Anne Moore, Lauren Hammond and Tim Quintero were among the attendees/speakers.

· There are still some issues with parking, cleanup in front of the businesses and green card sales.

· Great partnerships with code enforcement. Working on ways to improve the strategy for fixing the dumping and abandoned cars issues in the County. Working with Ted Freeman in the City to work on City code issues in the area.

· Franklin Tire – looking to expand into another building and is working with the City to work out issues with the plans.

· Working with City on planning issues.

· New Home Grand Re-Opening to be held August 26, 2003.

· Next quarterly report will be in September.
