Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (SHRA) administers funds for the City and County of Sacramento from the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
CDBG grants are used for a wide range of affordable housing, community redevelopment and commercial business assistance activities directed toward neighborhood revitalization, economic development and improved community facilities and services. The primary objective of the CDBG Program as set forth by Congress is "the development of viable urban communities, by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income".
