  2. Ms. Chiang called the meeting to order at approximately 6:00 p.m.

  5. REDEVELOPMENT ITEMS

A. Background and History of Army Depot Redevelopment Project

As requested by the Committee at the May 11 meeting, Ms. Chiang passed out a handout and gave a presentation covering the background of the Army Depot Redevelopment Project, information related to the 1998 plan amendment, implementation effort to date in the existing project area, prior efforts and initiatives in the proposed added area, and specific areas concerning the Third Amendment to the Redevelopment Plan. Ms. Chiang and Mr. Simon answered Committee member questions.

B. Third Amendment to the Army Depot Redevelopment Plan

Mr. Simon gave an overview on key sections of the redevelopment plan, also indicating where changes were proposed with the Third Amendment. Mr. Simon and Ms. Chiang answered Committee member questions. The Committee made a recommendation to support the Third Amendment to the Army Depot Redevelopment Plan on a motion by Mr. Vourakis, seconded by Ms. Vierra by a unanimous vote.

C. Redevelopment Area Report

    1. May 17th Community Meeting Update – Ms. Chiang indicated that the community meeting was held and well attended by approximately 70 people. A short presentation was given at the meeting and there was a question and answer session.
    2. Joint Public Hearing Date Change – Ms. Chiang indicated that the Joint Public Hearing scheduled before the City Council and Redevelopment Agency on June 1 will be continued to the June 8 Council meeting.
    3. June RAC meeting date – Ms. Chiang indicated that someone from her office would call all the committee members to figure out a regular monthly meeting date for RAC meetings.
