Redevelopment is the most important tool available to help breathe new life into communities that are in need of revitalization, economic development, and affordable housing and homeownership opportunities. Every $1 of redevelopment agency spending generates nearly $14 in total economic activity. Without this valuable resource, private investment will not get involved in these community improvement activities.

SHRA currently works in 15 redevelopment areas in the City and County of Sacramento. We collaborate with community members, business owners, developers and other partners to plan and invest public funds in a variety of neighborhood and commercial projects that benefit Sacramento residents. These projects include streetscape, lighting and other public infrastructure improvements; parks and community centers; mixed use and transit oriented developments and commercial facades. By strategically investing tax increment funds generated in redevelopment areas, we stimulate additional private investment in jobs and housing in Sacramento’s lower income neighborhoods.
